National Information Infrastructure


(NII, or "information superhighway") US Vice-President, Al Gore's early 1990s buzz-phrase for proposed integrated communications in the USA, based on a nationwide network of networks allowing all Americans to take advantage of the country's information, communication, and computing resources. It was to encompass hardware, software, media and jobs.
